Howard's End CSA Farm

Produce Pricing

Produce pricing is based on local supermarket pricing but as a rule is slightly less.   All produce grown on our farm is organic- locally grown produce is naturally grown, without the use of pesticides and is vetted by us.  All produce is fresh and is usually harvested the day before distribution.  Salad greens are washed at least twice- once in a chlorine bath to kill any soil pathogens that may be present.   Most varieties are heirloom.  The chickens are raised in a very humane way and are treated with respect.  70 percent of their diet is grain, the rest being made up of grasses, vegetables (which we feed them) and bugs.  They are allowed to fully mature to 12 weeks of age or more.  This makes them far more nutritious and gives them better taste than the store bought organic variety which are housed in huge warehouses and fed organic grain (without exercise).  They are truly pastured.   The feed is local but not organic. We are working on a custom feed.  Eggs are from local pastured birds.
